Got Questions? Good, I got answers!
I tried to cover most of the most common comments I get and even a few odd ones. If you think something is missing, you're more than welcome to contact me if you need more in-depth information.
So I read your page about SEO, but I don't know if it's worth it. Does my site really need it?
It's your call, but basically do some research on the search engines for terms that you think your site should show up for and see if you do make it to the first 3 pages of results. If not, SEO could definitely help you.
Well couldn't I just do all this myself?
Sure you could; if you have about 3-4 years worth of time to learn what it takes to do this effectively and then an extra 10-30 hours a week to apply your knowledge. Point is, this is a job within itself.
I've heard that all there is to getting good results is building up as many links pointing to my website as I can.
Building up links is a part of this, but more importantly is that you should NEVER build up links from ANYWERE just for the sake of having a link. A trained SEO Consultant will make sure that the links you get are from good sources and will not devalue your site in the search engines.
So that's it? Just links!?
Definitely not. Go check out the Internet Marketing page and read what's there.
Isn't SEO basically spamming all over the internet to get traffic to my site?
Absolutely not. There are some people who claim to be in our industry who do perform this way, however they are frauds. Many of us (myself included) practice "Ethical SEO" which in short means that we stay within the guidelines of the rules the search engines have made public to webmasters for inclusion to their index. Another aspect of Ethical SEO is that we do not put your website in a position of negative consequence from our actions at all costs.
I need a website tomorrow. Can you make it happen?
Yikes. Nope. But I can put together a search engine ready site together in about 3-4 weeks on average depending on the size and functionality requirements.
Will your work display correctly on mobile and handheld devices?
Since there are so many devices using different versions of internet browsers, it's almost impossible to answer this. But I do know that the Apple iPhone displays every single one of my sites flawlessly.
What is WAI Compliance you talk about on the Web Development page?
In short, WAI Compliance is extra steps taken by a web developer to code a website which meets certain guidelines from the W3C for aiding disabled and elderly internet surfers. Those visitors will use tools to view and use your site, therefore, extra steps are taken to ensure their tools work properly.
Does WAI Compliance help me in the search engines?
I haven't seen anything conclusive to suggest it, however this isn't about ranking. This is about making your website usable and accessible to all people.
I want my site to be nothing but Macromedia Flash based.
I work with a fantastic Flash developer, I can put you in touch with her.
