Social Portal BEATDOWN Week
Looks like the cruel cold hand of fate has decided to cast an ass whooping on MySpace and Facebook this week in the news. Let’s look at MySpace first, because this is much more worth paying attention to compared to Facebooks’ issues.
A Messload of Sex Offenders
29,000 sex offenders identities have been located and singled out in the members database on MySpace due to pressure from a number of states Attorney General offices. You would think there would be more freakazoids on there, but see I haven’t talked about what’s really shocking here.
Two months ago, the number of registered sex offenders was 4 times less than the 29k we have now. If you extrapolate this kind of math based on those numbers… lets see… carry the one… plus that….. we should have enough sex offenders to start their own social network (MyPerv?) where they can try to meet each other instead. See, there is a silver lining to all of this.
Crybabies Wanting A Quick Buck
This to me really isn’t worth mentioning just because it will be a blip on the radar screen when the courts are done ruling on it. Basically, we got these clowns over at a social portal called ConnectU accusing the owner of Facebook of fraud, copyright infringement and misappropriation of trade secrets, and has demanded to be given ownership of Facebook.
Seriously?! You want ownership? So let’s say you got it, then what? Roll into work on Monday morning so you could talk to all the staff you didn’t hire and try to direct them to fulfill your visions and ideas? Dude, no one is gonna respect you or trust you. Just go build a better social platform and quit yer bitchin.
Besides that stupidity, it looks like all the noise about Miss New Jersey dry humping a limo on film has subsided and she can get on with her life. Which is good, cuz I could have cared less and same for thousands of other people. Why? Because we don’t really get upset about stupid pictures getting on the net; it’s common place nowadays. In fact, we anticipate it. It’s just another strange little thread in the tapestry of the net.
Your Nokia Phone Got a Little Cooler
But you’re still not as cool as an iPhone owner. Because dropping $600 on a piece of technology that will probably be outdated by the holidays is cool. Anyways, back to what I was saying.
Nokia bought out Twango, which specializes in media storage and transfer. In other words, Nokia is building an iPhone competitor and needs Twango’s know-how on making it a full featured multi-media ready gadget. If it’s less than $300 out the door, they might have a chance I think.
