Not everyone should have a website

I don’t know about you, but whenever I have felt compelled to take the local and cheap road on advertising I find myself hitting the same 2 spots over and over. First one is any local alternative printed newspaper sites since they usually allow free services advertising, and the 2nd is good old Craigslist.. or as the people who troll it refer to it as “CL”.
I’ve never really had too good of luck with getting any responses from the newspaper sites, but any place to drop a link with some good supporting copy around it can’t be too bad. But when it comes to CL, the freaks and idiots come out of the woodwork. But this is also probably one of the worst places for user controlled democracy in action since the amount of bizarro shit that can be posted up happens in rapid fire mode. Spend some time in the Rants &Raves section.
Case In Point
About 1 month ago I decided to throw out a services offered ad on the Honolulu Craigslist just to see if people here are looking for internet marketing consultants or web developers with such skills. I opted out of linking to my site since I really wasn’t sure what kind of response I would get. Here’s my favorites;
“Is internet marketing the same as passing out flyers?”
“Can you make me a website for $50?”
“I’m not sure what I’m going to do with my new business, but I’m sure your services could help me.”
Man.. who let all this stupid onto the internet?

That’s funny. Some people really have no clue about internet marketing. You can’t even purchase a copy of Front Page for $50!
