Microsoft: Sucks To Be You

Seems it never ends for Microsoft.  I’m not gonna lie to you about my feelings when it comes to M$ having troubles of any kind;  I’m always in the corner of whoever challenges them in court or on the web somewhere.  It’s not because I wish bad things for them, I’m just a firm believer in seeing an out of control and out of touch corporation get humbled and pulled off their high chair once in a great while.  More to the point however, Linux and Mac are proving to be the better alternatives to Vista along with the slew of Open Source applications that have replaced if not all of the M$ product line.

Tarred & Feathered

In the past 2 months, some pretty hard slaps in the face have come down on the Redmond boys.  The co-founder of Hotmail (no longer with Microsoft) is challenging MS Office with something like Google Docs, which he’s offering for free. Mac is taking over in Japan as the preferred operating system. Their own marketing, or propaganda, has completely backfired and they’re in court for it now. And they love screwing small businesses out of money with pointless litigation and scare tactics, and it’s public knowledge now.

Ouch!  Bad press all around.  Apparently they have gotten their search algo in pretty good shape as far as filtering bogus results, but the real issue is whether or not it’s just too late to care.  To this day, I still haven’t seen any webmasters using their adCenter PPC offering.  See what happens when you’re late to the game?

However, when tragedy strikes, it’s all about fresh and original ideas that make absolutely NO sense to ease the stress.  Like pondering a new data center in warm and cozy Siberia.  Or better yet, you can turn loose the resident tin foil hat wearing sociopath of the company to repeatedly bad mouth Google, or anything that somehow competes for web dominance, and then one more time for good measure and not give any concern as to coming across as arrogant or having some envy issues.  I bet he drives a red convertible and does donuts in every parking lot he goes to.  That’s what badasses do ya know.

The Million Dollar Question

Will M$ ever win the public back?  No, that’s not the real question that needs to be asked here.  Will they ever stop pissing off their audience?  That is DEFINITELY the real question.  Unfortunately, only they have the answer.
