Ok, so 2007 is almost over and I wanted to jump on the bandwagon for getting all nostalgic and misty eyed about the year that will soon pass us by like a fart in the wind. Ah the memories… the good times.. the.. stuff.
Anyways, I started thinking about what kind of goals I should make professionally for next year so I can become a better SEO through education, enrichment …. some other types of things that could start with the letter “e”. These are in no particular order of importance;
Top 10 SEO Things-To-Do For 2008
10 - Attend a conference. Any conference. I think this should be anyone and everyone’s goal who’s serious about this line of work. As for me, since no large industry conferences have been hosted in sunny beautiful Hawaii (cough *hint-hint* cough) I’ll have to find my way to one.
9 - Fly to California and do the Bruce Clay SEOToolSet Training. Also it’s an excuse for me to fulfill number 8 on the list.
8 - Buy Lisa Barone the drinks I owe her.
7 - Continue my subscription to Search Marketing Standard magazine. Damn good magazine with some great pieces from people that have some awesome insights. Too bad it’s quarterly though
6 - Continue to interview people in the industry once a month. I would say you should do it too, but I don’t want you crowding my space.
5 - Niche market my individual skills in hopes of being involved in the areas of SEO that I’m more focused on. To be honest, we’re all gonna have to start singling ourselves out as specialists on some sort of sub-field of SEO because it’s evolving way too much to be able to back up a claim like “I can do EVERYTHING in SEO” to clients or prospective employers.
4 - Redesign my site. Again. (I’m already sick of it)
3 - Look into adding podcasts as a monthly kind of thing. I don’t know why, but something is really appealing about the idea of being loaded onto someone’s ipod and boring them on their bus ride to work.
2 - Convert more people in the industry over to Linux. Save yourself some money and get freed from the clutches of Microsoft people!
1 - To get 1000 posts at SEO Refugee. Only 800 something more to go…
What’s some of your goals?
